The Installation Process

Counter-Flashing:
This top layer completes the waterproof seal. It’s inserted into a groove cut into the mortar joints of the chimney (a reglet), then folded down over the step flashing. This critical overlap prevents water from entering the joint where the chimney meets the roof, allowing the roof and chimney to expand and contract without breaking the seal.
